If you’ve never bought a bespoke garment before, the process is a lot simpler than you might think. As travelling tailors we aim to make creating perfect tailoring as easy as possible so buying from us starts with a consultation with one of our skilled tailoring team. During this consultation your tailor will talk through your budgets and requirements, before explaining the options to you. Your tailor will then take meticulous body measurements and figuration observations.
Last and by no means least, you’ll then have the chance to choose the perfect fabric for your tailored overcoat: we have a choice of thousands of fabrics; we know this can be daunting so we’ll give you advice and guidance if required! In addition, you’ll also be able to select a lining – a great opportunity to choose something bold, if that’s your thing – along with buttons, collar style, pockets and more.
Now it’s time for our skilled pattern cutters to take over and they’ll create a unique card pattern which will be used as a template for creating your coat. The next step is for our seamstresses and machinists to take your chosen raw materials and transform them into a beautifully unique tailored overcoat, designed to only ever fit you.
If you’ve chosen to have an interim fitting, your partially completed coat will be brought to you to try on. Your tailor will use chalk to mark out any alterations which might be required, using pins to adjust the fit until you’re both 100% satisfied with the fit. If styling is complex or the fit challenging, we can repeat this stage if needs be.
Once alterations have been made your coat will undergo a finishing process which includes pressing. The final fitting comes next and your tailor will check to ensure that the fit and silhouette are perfect. If any further amendments are required will undertake these until you’re completely happy and only then will we ask for the final balance.
