Buying a bespoke tailored suit offers the perfect way to achieve the perfect fit and quality you can’t find on the high street. Although there’s a misconception that ‘going bespoke’ means having to pay Savile Row prices, here at Norton & Townsend we are experts in personal tailoring, offering a bespoke service for a great price. Our team of skilled men’s tailors travel the country and we’ll visit you in the comfort of your home or office – whichever suits you best. So if you’re looking for a convenient way to buy a bespoke suit without all the hassle, get in touch to make an appointment.
We live and breathe bespoke personal tailoring and thanks to our expert team of highly skilled tailors, pattern cutters and seamstresses, we’ve been helping busy people enjoy hand-finished made to measure suits, coats, jackets and shirts since 1990.
Our passion to create the perfect garment for every client is behind everything we do and the process starts when you meet your personal Norton & Townsend tailor. Where this meeting takes place is entirely up to you and we’re happy to meet you at home or work. During this consultation your tailor will talk through the style options (slim fit suit, double breasted etc) for your budget, explaining the different types of fabric and styling details. We offer a huge choice of thousands of the highest quality suit fabrics; from luxurious cashmere and pure wool, through to linen, blends and more.
Your tailor will then take dozens of detailed measurements, whilst also taking a close look at your posture and gait. It’s this all-important step which makes the big difference between bespoke tailoring and off-the-peg as a ready made garment is made to fit (literally) every man. So, if you’re a little on the broad side or short side, for example, finding the perfect fit in a ready made suit is going to be difficult, to say the least.
Once we have your measurements and you’ve chosen your fabrics, our team of pattern cutters will start work on creating your unique pattern. The pattern is made from card and is used as a template to cut out your garment before our tailors and seamstresses start their skilled work. Once your suit is partially complete and if you’ve opted for an interim jacket fitting, you’ll have the opportunity to try it on. Your tailor will mark any adjustments which might be necessary until you’re both 100% happy with the fit.
Next comes finishing and pressing (an art in itself) before your order is ready for the final fitting. Your tailor will carefully check the fit to ensure everything is absolutely perfect and it’s only at this point that we’ll ask you to pay the final balance.
