A made to measure suit is, literally, a cut above the rest as because it’s made specifically for you, unlike off-the-peg garments which are one-size-fits-all. Here at Norton & Townsend we are specialists in personal tailoring, making beautiful made to measure suits for our clients throughout the UK. We believe that buying a unique tailored suit should be as simple as possible and our tailors travel throughout the country, providing a bespoke tailoring service.
The process of buying a bespoke suit from us is easy and starts with a visit from one of our travelling tailors. During this consultation appointment he’ll talk through your requirements and budget, before taking numerous measurements. It is these measurements that make your new suit unique as unlike ready-to-wear garments, your bespoke suit will be made to fit you and you alone. Our tailors are highly skilled and whilst measurements are being taken, your tailor will also pay close consideration to your body shape, posture and gait.
The next step is to choose from our huge range of superb quality fabrics and linings which includes options to suit all budgets and requirements: from cashmere, silk and pure wools, through to luxury blends and natural fibres including linen and cotton. We offer our clients a choice of thousands of fabrics; however, we know that choosing from such a huge range can be a daunting prospect so your tailor will offer advice on the best choice of fabric for you. Last and by no means least, you will also be offered a number of different styling choices; covering everything from buttons and lapels, through to pockets, trouser hems and more.
Once your tailor has taken measurements and details of your order it’s time for our pattern cutters and seamstresses to work their magic. Your measurements will be transferred to a card template pattern which we’ll keep should you want to order from us again. Fabric will be pressed and cut, before our seamstresses start work on tailoring. Once your suit is partially complete and if you’ve opted for an interim fitting appointment, you’ll have a chance to try it on so that any adjustments can be made. When this stage is complete your new made to measure suit will be delivered to you.
We’re not happy unless you’re 100% happy and so a final payment won’t be taken until any final alterations are complete.
