Tweed and cashmere. Layered.
The perfect combination for a nippy day at the races.
The weather never stops us British from doing the things that we love. Standing outside for hours at your favourite sporting event in autumn or winter is great with the right attire.
This doesn’t mean you have to walk around dressed as an Inuit hunter, if you layer correctly, you can stay toasty in the most sophisticated of fabrics and fits.
Tweed is a popular option for the races for its weather-withstanding qualities, either in full glory as a three-piece suit or just as a jacket teamed with corduroy or chino trousers.
Line your tweed with a cashmere turtleneck and maybe throw on a cashmere Covert coat for the extra cold days. However a Stockman wax coat may be needed in the case of horizontal showers and blustery winds.
A cashmere-backed silk scarf is a great accessory to tuck into your Oxford shirt for a bit of neck and chest protection.
Norton and Townsend’s Cheltenham Tweed is a great racecourse must have to start off your layering with.
Come and get measured for your own bespoke tweed ensemble at one of our stores, or let one of our experienced tailors come to you, wherever you are.
