What makes us different though is that we don’t have a Leeds store; instead we’ll visit you at home or work, offering you a simple and convenient way to choose a bespoke suit, made to the highest quality.
The Norton & Townsend approach to bespoke tailoring
The process of ordering and buying a bespoke suit from Norton & Townsend starts with an initial consultation with one of our travelling tailors in Leeds. Your tailor will visit you in the comfort of your own home or your office – whichever is most convenient for you. During this initial consultation your tailor will talk through the options with you, whether you’re looking for a suit to wear to the office or special occasions. From classic lounge suits or a bespoke wedding suit, through to a tuxedo or something more casual, bespoke tailoring can be anything you like as the options are unlimited.
Unlike an off the rack suit, a bespoke suit is made to fit you and only you so your tailor will take numerous measurements, whilst also taking into account your posture and body shape. You’ll then be offered a range of fabrics to choose from: we have thousands including luxurious pure wools and cashmere, through to blends, linens and more. In addition, you’ll also be able to choose your own lining, along with a selection of trims and styling options. This first step takes around one hour and once complete, we’ll ask you for a 50% deposit.
From this point onwards it’s time for our team of talented pattern cutters and seamstresses to take over. They’ll take your measurements to create a unique pattern template which we’ll keep in case you’d like to order from us again. Work then begins on making your suit and this is a process which takes around 5 to 8 weeks, depending on the style and fabric you’ve chosen.
Last and by no means least, once your suit is complete we’ll arrange a final fitting appointment. We’re not happy unless you’re 100% happy so if any minor alterations need to be made, we’ll carry these out as quickly as possible before requesting final payment.
