The simple answer to this is no! Unfortunately, for a suit to be truly bespoke, it does require the expertise of a skilled tailor to take measurements, whilst also paying consideration to your body type and gait. Although there are services available which claim to offer bespoke suits online, if you’re looking for a truly execptional fit, there really is no substitute for professional tailoring.
Here at Norton & Townsend we aim to offer a convenient alternative to visiting a high street tailor; making choosing and ordering a custom tailored suit as simple as possible. We have a team of travelling tailors who visit our clients at home or work – wherever is most convenient for them. Your personal tailor will take your measurements, talk you through the range of style options available. From this point it’s around six weeks until your new suit is ready. Here’s how the Norton & Townsend process works:
From the comfort of your home or office, the process begins with a visit from one of our team of travelling tailors. During this consultation appointment your tailor will take a series of measurements, whilst also taking into account your body shape and posture. This stage is where the benefits of bespoke tailoring really come into their own as unlike an ‘off-the-peg’ suit, your new garments will be unique and made to fit only you.
Once measuring is complete, your tailor will discuss the range of options available to you in terms of style, fabric and trim. Again, this is a great opportunity to create a unique garment, so whether you’d like something classic and traditional, or to go a little off piste, your tailor will advise on the options available.
We are able to offer our clients a choice of over 5000 stunning fabrics, including pure wools, cashmere, silk, luxury blends and linen. We know that such a huge range can be daunting so your tailor will be on hand to offer advice and guidance if required. You’ll also have the chance to choose a lining for your jacket, along with other details such as buttons, the style of the lapels and more.
At this point it’s time for our talented team of pattern cutters and seamstresses to take over and they’ll work their magic by getting your suit ready for you to try on in around six weeks time. We’re not happy unless you’re happy though, so if any alterations are required, we’ll carry these out as quickly as possible.
