Our Passion for Tailoring
We have worked in tailoring all our lives, from cutting patterns to buying cloth, so we know every stage of the process and how vital it is to get it right. As you can see from these pictures we are passionate about our suits. Whether it’s a lightweight mohair fabric, a sturdy shooting jacket or a velvet dinner suit, our tailors will help you make the right choice.
This is a people business. It’s about the people who measure our clients, cut the patterns, sew, press, deliver, fit, alter, wear and enthuse about our beautiful clothes. The people who weave our fabrics, make up our pattern books, design our website, shout about us in the Press, drive our vans or clean the shop windows.
Every one of us is committed to the cause. Every one of us is here to make a difference. Maybe it’s the Yorkshire Way – honest, plain speaking and without the need for pomp or circumstance.

We could blind you with the science, overwhelm you with the level of craftsmanship and move you to tears with the heritage but, if you don’t mind, we will leave the talking to our suits.
Each one is beautifully cut, expertly stitched and perfect for no-one else other than you.
Norton & Townsend tailors love all shapes and sizes because our suits are a true celebration of the individual. There’s no such thing as a standard size.

METHOD:
- 1. Arrange a convenient 30-45 minute consultation at which you will select the fabric, trim and styling. The tailor will take meticulous measurements as well body figuration. A 50 per cent deposit is required.
- 2. Your unique pattern will be created in Leeds. We will order the fabrics and trims and the suit will go into work. Your tailor will be in touch five or six weeks later to arrange a delivery fitting.
- 3. If any amendments are needed at this first try-on stage the tailor will carry these out swiftly. When you are completely satisfied with your suit the balance is then taken.
- 4. We have a 100 per cent commitment to quality and your tailor is on call 24/7.
